Join me in my efforts to support Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation!

On April 14, 2012 one of my fraternity brothers and friend, had a terrible boating accident which resulted in a debilitating spinal cord injury. Unfortunately, he was not able to return to school for his sophomore year as he is currently undergoing intensive rehabilitation to try and regain movement throughout his body. Fortunately, he has made significant progress. Amidst several setbacks, including infections andmultiple hospitalizations, Luke is now moving his hands, fingers and regaining strength in his legs. He is fighting a tremendous battle but there isstill a lot more to be done.

My fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi, along with the entire Vanderbilt Greek Community, is pledging to raise $90,000 to purchase a locomotive training machine for the greater Nashville area. Hospitals in the Nashville area are not equipped with this equipment which is vital for Luke's continued progress and recovery, thus preventing Luke from returning to school.
I am attaching a link for more detailed information concerning the locomotive machine as it is too complex and difficult to explain in my own words. In a brief, yet non-descriptive summary, the machine uses sensory information from the legs to stimulate walking and learning of motor skills by the nervous system.
The link for more information on the Locomotor Training is:

If we raise enough money, Vanderbilt University will purchase this machine. This will enable Luke to return to school and also benefit anyone else who suffers a similar injury.

If you would like to follow the wild roller coaster story of Luke since the accident, his mother Anne Dowd Moretti posted updates on her Facebook page. The link to her Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/annedowdmoretti

We have also planned a concert on October 19, 2012 to raise additional money. The Concert is called Lights on the Lawn and all Greek houses on campus will be participating and contributing.

Thank you for taking the time to read. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated by the Moretti family, Luke and my fraternity and the entire Vanderbilt and Nashville communities.

Sincerely,
Spencer
