Make your fundraising page unique

You’ve already taken the first step in supporting the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, now it’s time to time to make your Team Reeve® fundraising webpage unique.

Here’s how:

1. Log on to your fundraising headquarters.

2. Click on the tab that says "My Web Page."

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to make the desired changes, like:

- Adding a photo or a YouTube video to your fundraising page.
Note: Video must first be on YouTube. To add a YouTube video, use the URL in the address bar of the browser of the video you want to use, not the URL in the share field.

- Personalizing your text to inspire others to join or donate by sharing your reasons why you decided to participate in Team Reeve®.

4. When you’re finished, share your page with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Import your address book

Setting up your address book makes it easier to follow up with your contacts and thank your donors.

Here’s how:

1. Log on to your fundraising headquarters.

2. Under the "Email" tab, select "Address Import".

3. Select your email provider and contacts. Click "Add". If you need assistance, click "Import Wizard Help" and follow the instructions to upload your contacts.

That's it. You're finished.

Once you have imported your contacts, you can send them emails by using the MyHQ email center!

Remember: the most successful fundraisers are those who ask!

Ask for donations using email

The golden rule of fundraising is to ask. The answer is always "no" unless you ask. Don't be afraid to ask your friends, family and co-workers. They'll want to support your fundraising efforts as part of Team Reeve®.

Here’s how:

1. Log on to your fundraising headquarters.

2. Go to the email tab.

3. Click on the "Address Book" link to select your contacts.

4. We've provided you an email template to use. This is a great starting point, but be sure to personalize the email where suggested and share your reasons for fundraising for Team Reeve®!

5. Once you've personalized your email, click "Save As" located next to the select templates box. Save your email, so you can resend to more contacts. You're able to create and save as many emails as you like.

TIP: Add a specific donation request in your email. Often donors will read your email and visit your page, but not know what to give and then leave without making a donation. Including an amount in your email will your eliminate donor freeze -- the term we use when someone visits your page, but is not sure what to give. Why not try: "Will you donate $30 to help me reach my $500 fundraising goal?"

Be a social fundraiser

Here’s how:

1. Log on to your fundraising headquarters.

2. Under Social Fundraising, click on the "Facebook", "Twitter" or "Yahoo!" icon.

3. You'll be asked for permission to connect with that social media platform. You're information will not be shared.

4. On the pop-up window, add a personal message for your friends and followers.

5. Simply click on the publish button to post it.

TIP: Just like with email. Include a specific donation request and your fundraising goal in your message. "Will you donate $20 to help me reach my $500 fundraising goal?"

Offline donations

You should first advise your donors to give to you online through your personal fundraising page (via credit card), or they can submit gifts by mailing checks and money orders to:

Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation
636 Morris Turnpike, Suite 3A
Short Hills, NJ 07078
Attn: Team Reeve

Checks should be made out to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Be sure to include your name and event in the memo field memo line of the check to ensure proper credit for your fundraising.

Check your donors and thank them!

If you wish to send any thank you emails or notes, you can easily find a list of people who have made contributions to your fundraising goal.

Here’s how:

1. Log on to your fundraising headquaters to access a list of your donors and to see the dollar amount of their gifts.

2. After you log in, select the "reports" tab found near the top of the webpage (it is in between the "email" and "tools" tab).

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Here you will see a list of your donors, along with the amount they have contributed to your fundraising goal.

4. Click the "Choose Columns" link found on the far right (above the "check number" heading).

5. Select the "email address" box, along with the boxes- address line 1, address line 2, city, state, postal code/ZIP. Scroll to the bottom and click save. The page will automatically refresh, and again scroll down to the bottom.

6. Now you will be able to view the names of your donors, the gift amount given, the email address, and the home address of all your donors.

Bonus Fundraising Tips

Don't limit your communications to email; consider asking your contact list in person or by phone as well.

Include the people on your holiday card list, and any vendors you come in frequent contact with, such as your hair stylist, banker, doctor, dentist, etc.

Be sure to add a personal touch to your fundraising page and the email templates -- people are much more likely to respond to a personal and passionate story.

Remember, the #1 reason people give is because someone asked them to.

Don't forget to personally thank those who donate.

Most importantly -- Have Fun!
