This grant will help to fund The Cruisers Junior Wheelchair Track and Field Team, the only junior wheelchair track and field team in Connecticut.&nbsp; The Cruisers meet weekly, through the year, to work on physical conditioning, socialization, and the development of athletic skills through racing, obstacle course, slalom, sprinting, road racing and indoor/outdoor throwing (discus, javelin, and shot-put).&nbsp; The team competes regionally and nationally and currently holds several national records from the National Junior Disability Championships.&nbsp; Current and former Cruisers have represented the United States at the international level on World Championship Teams, Junior National Teams, and Paralympic Teams.&nbsp; Grant funds will support expenses for the National Junior Disability Championships in July 2008 in New Jersey.&nbsp; This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).<br />
