This grant will help to support Project Creando Suenos (Building Dreams), an initiative that will expand the capacity of the organization with more staff and extend the reach to more families in need of this tailor-made style of support for individuals ages 7 through 27 years of age and their families whose disabilities include cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, CHARGE syndrome, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.
Project services include practical problem-solving, information and explanations in their own language, connection and team coordination with education, health, economic and informal community resources, and inclusion in a network of Latino families who can provide social support and encouragement. Grant funds will help to fund the salary and related expeanses for the community worker. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
