Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2008: Actively Achieving

United States Adaptive Recreation Center
Big Bear Lake, CA

This grant will help to support a project to maintain, upgrade and/or replace adaptive equipment to enable the United States Adaptive Recreation Center to provide state-of-the-art equipment and instruction in the therapeutic recreation programs for people with paralysis. Winter ski, snowboard, and snowshoe lessons, and summer water ski, kayak, personal watercraft, fishing, sailing, cycling and camping experiences are offered at affordable rates, with scholarships available, so that all who want to participate may do so regardless of their ability to pay. Grant funds will help to underwrite the purchase of programmatic equipment, specifically, a mono ski and a bi ski. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
