Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2008: Actively Achieving

Wintergreen Adaptive Skiing

Wintergreen Adaptive Skiing (Member of Disabled Sports USA)
Afton, VA

This grant will help to support the Adaptive Sports Partners Program, an extremely successful re-integration tool for people with recent traumatic spinal cord and brain injuries. This project harnesses three powerful variables in the re-integration process: sport, mentoring, and the support of the local and national disabled sport community. Grant funds will help to underwrite the purchase of one Freedom Factory Pro-Revolution mono-ski with hand-held outriggers. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
