Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2008: Bridging Barriers

Boston's Community Medical Group, Inc.
Boston, MA
$15,500

This grant will help to support “Community Based Pressure Mapping/Imaging,” a project that will bring a portable XSensor Pressure Mapping/Imaging System to Boston’s Community Medical Group patients home and day programs, and will be utilized by therapists for assessing effective pressure-relieving techniques. The information gathered will assist the Rehabilitation Team in the selection of the most appropriate wheelchair cushions and/or bed support surfaces, with the goal of greatly reducing the occurrence of pressure ulcers, therefore improving the health and quality of life for patients. Grant funds will help to underwrite the purchase of the XSensor Pressure Mapping System. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
