Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2008: Caring and Coping
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association
Calabasas Hills, CA
This grant will help to support the ALS Association’s Care Connection Program, which helps to establish formalized volunteer care networks for families of people with ALS in an effort to increase caregiver well-being and reduce caregiver burnout. The Care Connection provides tools and training to families on how to create care networks and encourages people to get involved and coordinate care. Caring for a person with ALS is a 24/7 job, and the Care Connection gives caregivers access to respite and the assistance they need. Grant funds will support programmatic expenses. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
