Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2008: Caring and Coping
New York University Hospitals for Joint Diseases Initiative for Women with Disabilities

This grant will help to support the expansion of the Initiative for Women with Disabilities Young Women’s Program, which is now entering its third year, to include increased and specialized programming, exercise classes based on skill level; expressive arts and vocational tracks; classes focused on topics applicable to certain age groups; increased academic achievement; and more field trips. There will also be expanded outreach in the community, marketing, recruiting, forming partnerships, growth of a cadre of instructors and expanded individual health and wellness planning. Grant funds will help to underwrite the purchase of programmatic equipment, programmatic supplies (excluding food costs), transportation for clients to the program; promotional DVD and mailings, and field trip expenses. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
