Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2009: Actively Achieving

Disabled Sports USA, Inc.

Disabled Sports USA
Rockville, MD

This grant will help to support Operation ROAM (Recreation Outreach for Alumni Military: A Program for DS/USA's Disabled Veterans), which will enable our disabled veterans to lead an active life through participation in sports in their own communities; train them to be instructors in adaptive sports to help "give back" to other disabled individuals; and provide them with adaptive equipment and advanced training to enable some to compete as high level elite athletes, leading to participation in Paralympic and similar level competitions. Grant funds will help to underwrite the purchase of programmatic equipment. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
