Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2009: Actively Achieving

James A. Haley VA Hospital's Adaptive Sports & Fitness Program
Tampa, FL

This grant will help to support the JAHVAH Adaptive Sports & Fitness Program and University of South Florida (USF) Campus & Outdoor Recreation Partnership, which will provide adaptive outdoor recreation and fitness opportunities that serve as an extension to the rehabilitation process for our injured active duty service members and disabled veterans. Through this partnership, the project will foster inclusion in the local community and promote a better awareness for working with individuals with disabilities. Grant funds will help to underwrite the purchase of programmatic equipment; specifically, a river canoe, kayak, paddle, and adaptive seats for river and float trips and trainings. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
