Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2009: Actively Achieving

Kostopulos Dream Foundation

Kostopulos Dream Foundation
Salt Lake City, UT

This grant will help to support the Adaptive Summer Camp season for people of all ages with disabilities, most of whom are ages 7 to 14, but range up to age 70. Campers experience camping in heated cabins, riding or playing with horses, swimming, fishing and canoeing at a nearby lake, and traversing a challenge ropes course. Campers also enjoy evening cookouts and singalongs under the stars, playing lawn and field games, and appreciating nature, all in a safe, supportive environment with full assistance and companionship from a low counselor-to-camper-ratio. Grant funds will support programmatic expenses. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
