Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2009: Actively Achieving

That Uppity Theatre Company
St. Louis, MO

This grant will help to support The DisAbility Project, a touring educational ensemble that creates and performs original material about the culture of disability to a variety of audiences and venues, including schools, corporations, social service agencies, cultural institutions, conferences, special events, and communities of faith. Post-show, large and small group discussions and age-specific study guides are integral to all performances. The group is comprised of adults with and without disabilities who are diverse in age, race, ethnicity, class, occupation, religion, sexual orientation, physical ability, and performance experience, and most have spinal cord injuries. Grant funds will help support programmatic expenses. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
