Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2009: Bridging Barriers
Wayne State University
This grant will help to fund a project to design and develop a low cost, light weight, portable, voice-controlled mechanical reach-assist device for individuals with a spinal cord injury or other debilitating conditions that severely limit mobility, strength, and range of motion. The device will increase individual independence and improve quality of life. Grant funds will support programmatic supplies. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000338).
