Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2009: Bridging Barriers

Vermont Studio Center
Johnson, VT

This Quality of Life grant will help to fund, as part of Vermont Studio Center’s ongoing institutional commitment to fostering an inclusive creative community, the installation of a three-stop lift in its Red Mill Building that will provide access to the resident lounge, art reference library and administrative offices. Lounge access will enable resident artists and writers who use wheelchairs to more fully participate in VSC's informal social gatherings and to make use of the extensive visual arts library. Access to VSC's administrative offices will enable VSC to better accommodate resident needs; to offer equal employment opportunities for resident artists and others; and, to be open and welcoming to trustees and other members of the philanthropic, arts and business communities. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000388).
