Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2009: Caring and Coping

Asians and Pacific Islanders with Disabilities of California (APIDC)
Oakland, CA

This Quality of Life grant will help to support the Giving a Voice and a Face to Asians & Pacific Islanders with Disabilities Conference, the fourth annual conference in Los Angeles, and will be held in the fall of 2010. This conference will unveil APIDC as a permanent non-profit staffed organization that has grown out of needs addressed in the previous conferences. Issues to be addressed include: Knowing Your Legal Rights - updates on the Americans with Disabilities Act; Employment Options; Personal Assistants; API Women with Disabilities; Navigating the System; Work & Life Choices: API Cultures: Breaking the Barriers; and Disability Rights = Civil Rights. Grant funds will support local scholarships to the conference. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000388).
