Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2009: Caring and Coping

ThinkFirst Foundation

Eve’s Fund for Native
American Health Initiatives

Santa Fe, NM

This grant will help to support ThinkFirst Navajo, a project that will engage Navajos with paraplegia to teach Navajo youth ways to prevent injuries. The project will transport 4 paraplegic speakers and a moderator to 12 schools to address about 3,000 students regarding serious injuries related to vehicle crashes, alcohol, and other factors. The trained speakers will talk about their own injuries and discuss various methods to prevent these injuries. Grant funds will help to support programmatic expenses. This grant was funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000388).
