Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2010: Bridging Barriers

C A R E Chest of Sierra Nevada
Reno, NV

This grant will support a program that assists low-income, uninsured and underinsured Northern Nevadans with diverse health conditions who are unable to afford or obtain vital medical resources. The individuals with paralysis served, earn $1,100 on average monthly, barely enough to cover basic living costs. High unemployment, overwhelming medical costs, constant out-of-pocket expenses and proposed cuts to the state health insurance program (affecting adult diapers and other consumable items), contribute to the need for this program more than ever to help fill the gaps in service. Grant funds will support programmatic personnel costs. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338).
