Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2010: Actively Achieving
Meeting Street Center
This Quality of Life grant will help to support MOVE (Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience) for Meeting Street Students. Meeting Street serves students from Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, and provides year-round education and therapy programs for 85 children and adolescents with disabilities, most frequently due to cerebral palsy, in-utero stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spina bifida, with the goal to maximize each student’s independence. MOVE is an evidence-based curriculum that teaches basic, functional motor skills needed for adult life to persons with paralysis and other disabilities. This will become the first MOVE site in all of New England, and will serve as a demonstration and training resource for the region. Grant funds will support programmatic equipment. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338).
