Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2010: Actively Achieving

This Quality of Life grant will help to support a therapeutic riding program for students of Pattison's Academy, which serves children with a variety of paralysis-causing diagnoses, including cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, spina bifida, Dandy Walker syndrome, and mitochondrial myopathy. Students actively participate in a variety of physical activities to enhance quality of life, learning, and health, including: standing, partial-weight-bearing treadmill training, adaptive aquatics, hippotherapy, cycling, painting, ice skating, sports, obstacle courses, and cooking. Grant funds will help to support the programmatic expenses for the therapeutic riding program. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338).
