Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2010: Caring and Coping

Compassions Training and Awareness Center
Cleveland, OH

This Quality of Life grant will help to support the Compassions Extensive Caregiver Training Program. This program addresses the need to train home health aids and caregivers to be able to adequately and compassionately assist individuals with paralysis. This is particularly important because in 2007, Ohio was one of seventeen states awarded a federal grant to help shift emphasis from institutional to home care for elderly individuals and people with disabilities. This radical shift increases the already high demand for specially trained home health aides locally. Grant funds will support programmatic expenses. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338).
