Quality of Life Grants: 2nd Cycle 2010: Bridging Barriers

Woodlands Foundation, Inc.
Wexford, PA

This Quality of Life grant will help to support the installation of a Hydraulic Lift for the Aquatic Center. The Wellness and Fitness Center at the Woodlands offers land-based and water-based programs. The current hydraulic lift in the Aquatics Center is in need of replacement. This project will replace the existing lift with a new lift that can accommodate individuals weighing up to 400 pounds. This project will help to address and combat the ongoing trend of increased cases of childhood obesity, diabetes, cardio-vascular disease and other health related issues for individuals with paralysis. Grant funds will support programmatic equipment. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338).
