Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2011: Actively Achieving

Ladacin Network
Wanamassa, NJ

This grant will help to support Ryan's Place, An Inclusive Specialized Playground at The Schroth Center. Ryan's Place will provide a safe and accessible place for students with multiple physical disabilities to receive therapeutic recreation. With specialized playground equipment, the children will also have new opportunities to socialize and experience the joys of play with their peers. The school, child care and respite programs at the Schroth Center serve 88 students from 29 school districts across four New Jersey counties. Our students have a variety of disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, head trauma, neurological impairments and chromosomal abnormalities. Many have diminished head and trunk control, limited use of their extremities and visual impairments. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338.)
