Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2011: Actively Achieving

North Carolina Community Sailing and Rowing
Huntersville, NC

This grant will help to support the Adaptive Sailing Fleet, which is intended for anyone who can use a manual wheelchair, who wishes to remain active both physically and mentally, who wants to experience the challenges associated with sailing and sailboat racing. A first for North Carolina, the Adaptive Sailing Program follows the United States Sailing curriculum and evaluation process with each participant. Grant funds will help to underwrite the purchase of one Access Dinghy for the program. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338.)
