Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2011: Actively Achieving

This grant will help to support the Adaptive Sports Program, which serves nearly 200 youth and adults with physical disabilities through year-round adaptive sports programs and special events. In the past, NEDSRA has offered basketball, tennis, track and field, bocce, golf, power soccer, and beep baseball, and in 2011, will expand to include swimming, softball, visually impaired self defense, visually impaired goal ball, an additional wheelchair basketball team, and a sports sampler program. Grant funds will help to support programmatic expenses for wheelchair maintenance and referees. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338.)
