Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2011: Actively Achieving

RISE Adventures
Irving, TX

This grant will help to support the Quad Rugby Weekly Recreational Program and Hand Cycling Weekly Recreational Program, which are both therapeutic adaptive recreational programs that operate 45 weeks per year. The program currently has 14 quad rugby chairs and 16 hand cycles, but the number of participants in both programs is growing exponentially. Beginners are taught the rules and how to operate the equipment, and as they advance they are encouraged to compete at the level they prefer. Grant funds will help to underwrite the purchase of one quad rugby chair that will remain property of the program. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338.)
