Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2011: Actively Achieving

Staten Island Multiple Sclerosis Group, Inc.
Staten Island, NY

This grant will help to support Whistle OutLoud, an arts program for individuals with multiple sclerosis, which will provide the opportunity for members to learn to play as individuals and as a group and eventually interact with other musicians in the community-at-large, culminating in a musical presentation at a community venue. This program is intended to be a fun and affirming activity that will improve self-confidence, develop a positive self-image, encourage creativity, promote social interaction and engender a sense of accomplishment. Grant funds will help to support programmatic expenses. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338.)
