Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2011: Actively Achieving

This grant will help to support the construction of the Universally Accessible Nature Trail at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) Nature Center. This project will provide universal access to ¾ miles of existing nature trails at the VINS Nature Center in Quechee, Vermont. The new wheelchair accessible trail will be constructed by the highly regarded Peter Jensen and Associates to the highest standards for universal accessibility and will be modeled after Jensen's existing trail at Crotched Mountain, a nonprofit outdoor-oriented rehabilitation facility serving people with disabilities. Grant funds will help to support programmatic expenses. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338.)
