Quality of Life Grants: 1st Cycle 2011: Caring and Coping

The Somerset Foundation
Santa Monica, CA

This grant will help to support Rolling Quads, a feature-length film that will tell the story of the "Rolling Quads", the nickname chosen by a small band of determined students in University of California at Berkeley's Cowell Hospital who, in the late 1960s, gave birth to the modern disability rights movement. In doing so they transformed the world in ways that we now take for granted. The inspiring film will dramatically show how many things we see today that were unimaginable before the astonishing events and inspiring changes these pioneers sparked. Grant funds will help to support programmatic expenses. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award # 1U59DD000338.)
