Eve's Fund for Native American Health Initiatives
Farmington, NM
$5,000 - Education Program

This grant will help to support a ThinkFirst Navajo initiative that transports four or more speakers with paraplegia and a moderator to 20-25 schools across the Navajo Nation to teach 2,000 to 2,400 students in grades Kindergarten through twelve about serious injuries related to vehicle crashes, sports injuries, alcohol, violence and other factors. The trained speakers will talk about their own injuries and the consequences they face daily, as well as various methods to prevent brain and spinal cord injuries. Grant funds will support programmatic expenses. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000838-01).
