National Recreation and Park Association
$12,000 - Adaptive Sports
This grant will help to support Parks: Return and Restore, a program that works to expand adaptive and therapeutic recreational opportunities for service members and veterans who are injured, in a community-based park and recreation setting. Sports and recreational opportunities offer the service members and veterans the ability to achieve success in a short period of time by regaining confidence in themselves and their bodies, as well as re-engage in their communities along with their families. Thus far, the program has reached 28 park and recreation agencies and 1,000 injured service members and veterans and their families across the United States to provide needed resources to enhance their programs. Grant funds will help to support programmatic salary and webinar expenses. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000838-01).
