New Alternatives for Children
New York, NY
$5,000 - Other

This grant will help to support the Recreation Program, which offers an array of quality cultural, educational and recreational activities and groups for children with severe disabilities and or chronic illness. Activities, which are available after school, Saturdays and weekdays during school and summer vacations, provide integrated, accessible and normalizing experiences for children with special medical needs, as well as much needed respite for caregivers. Wheelchair accessible transportation is a vital component of the program. Grant funds will support accessible transportation costs for participants. This grant is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Award #1U59DD000838-01).
