The Science Advisory Council, comprised of senior neuroscientists who volunteer their time, is appointed by the Reeve Foundation and reports to the Research Planning Committee of the Board (RPC). It is the heart of the international Individual Research Grants program (IRG).
Twice yearly its members conduct peer review of all research applications submitted to the Foundation and make funding recommendations to the RPC. They review proposals based on scientific merit and rigor and relevance to our mission, with an eye to insuring a balanced IRG portfolio. As a result, the Foundation funds a broad array of studies exploring everything from neuroprotection, regeneration and remyelination to the secondary consequences of SCI, including pain, spasticity and loss of bowel, bladder and sexual function.
