Heather Boies
With a background in fitness and rehabilitation, Heather Boies works with neurologically-challenged folks suffering from strokes and Parkinson's disease. With the help of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation to fundraise for further research for spinal chord injury and to educate the community, Heather hope's to obtain and provide long-time care for those affected by these injuries. She looks forward to seeing the growth of the Utah chapter and the future relationships the chapter can build to assist those affected by spinal chord injury.
In November, 2007 Heather ran with Team Reeve in the NYC Marathon. This was her first experience with the Foundation and its wonderful support of its runners. Heather found the organization impressive and definitely something she wanted to be a part of, especially when the Utah Chapter was organized. Most importantly, Chris is Heather's step-uncle; she cherishes memories of horse back riding & sledding together near his home in Massachusetts.

Cara Wiegand
My name is Cara Wiegand; Chris is my step-uncle, my sister is Heather Boies & my uncle is Tom Laabs-Johnson (other chapter members), in addition, my mother Katie is one of the co-chairs! We all feel a strong commitment to supporting and being involved in the Foundation. Recently I became a member of the Utah Chapter of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. I did this because I want to do something “more.” I want to help others while learning more about spinal cord injuries. I can also relate, maybe just a little bit, to those with SCI. I have had MS for about 10 years. I can understand about not being able to physically do several activities. Although I am quite aware these two, MS and SCI, are extremely different--I feel like I can still (in a way) relate.
Currently, I am an all-day kindergarten teacher. I spend a lot of my time trying to figure out different ways to teach all my different types of students. I love teaching, but I really look forward to the summer time when all I have to really do is relax!
As a Utah Chapter Member, raise awareness and understanding of the legal, psychological, physical and medical challenges and adjustments, ALL people with SCI have in common, regardless of level of injury, complete or incomplete and degree/method of mobility. "Our adjustments and challenges are continuous and more similar than they are different."
