Commemorate Christopher Reeve's Legacy on His Birthday

Christopher and Dana Reeve

Christopher and Dana Reeve

Dear Friends:

On September 25th, Christopher Reeve would have celebrated his 57th birthday. This will be both a solemn occasion and a joyous one, a time for us to remember the friend we lost, and to honor him by redoubling our efforts to carry on the remarkable work he began.

Please acknowledge Christopher's commitment to finding cures for those living with spinal cord injury by making your special gift to Reeve Foundation today.

Christopher's greatest strength was his unshakable faith that people living with paralysis could walk again. He knew better than anyone else that it would take a great deal of persistence and dedication to find these cures. But he also knew that we would get there, as long as people like you -- who shared his vision -- believed it too.

It was that belief that allowed him to take a personal tragedy and from it build an international movement to find new treatments and cures for paralysis caused by spinal cord injuries. And while neither Christopher nor his beloved wife Dana lived to see that dream fulfilled, today their spirit lives on in the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

Driven by Christopher's belief that nothing is impossible, today we are helping thousands of people with spinal cord injuries live healthier, more active lives. I know Christopher would be proud that the Foundation has become a family business, with his children filling his shoes.

I also know how much your support would mean to him. Because it is people like you who must carry on his legacy if we are to reach our goal of helping people regain movement and even walk again. That's why I hope you join us in honoring Christopher's memory by making a special birthday gift to the Foundation today.

Your generous contribution will be put to immediate use supporting work that is changing people's lives every day, like:

  • The groundbreaking North American Clinical Trials Network, which is moving the most promising spinal cord therapies from the laboratory to the patient.
  • The NeuroRecovery Network, a group of rehabilitation centers that are pioneering activity-based therapies to help people improve their health, function, quality of life and independence and as a result, open new doors in their lives and careers.
  • Cutting-edge research projects and international workshops that are exploring exciting promising new strategies for repairing damaged spinal cords.
  • Quality of Life grants that are improving the lives of individuals and families living with paralysis.

Ultimately, the work that Christopher and Dana began 14 years ago depends on the enduring commitment of people like you. Only with your support can we help people with paralysis lead more active, healthier lives. Only with your help can we make Christopher's dream of curing spinal cord injuries a reality.

Christopher never stopped believing in that goal. I know that you won't either. Please join us in celebrating his birthday by making the one gift he would treasure most -- a tax-deductible donation to further the work of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
