Your support of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation allows us to advance cutting-edge research and provide support those living with paralysis need, every single day. I;d like to tell you about a program that really changes lives -- the Mind-Body Integration program at the Courage Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mind-Body Integration is an experimental program that uses innovative therapies to help people use their minds to help their bodies heal more fully.

The Courage Center specializes in treating brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, chronic pain, autism, and disabilities experienced since birth. “What we’re trying to get across is that there's a level of sensation in your mind-body relationship that traditional rehabilitation practices don't include as part of the experience,” says instructor Matthew Sanford. “These connections are never going to make me walk again. But they're going to increase my strength, balance, and flexibility. They're going to increase the grace with which I move through space. All of these things are going to be transformative events for someone that lives with a chronic disability.”
And it would not have been possible without the Reeve Foundation’s Quality of Life program. “We wouldn’t have been able to launch this next phase without the assistance of the Reeve Foundation,” says Alice Johnson, the Courage Center’s Chief Financial Officer. “ It’s really helped us get a leg up, and it’s also helped us raise money with other funders. We can say, we have a pilot, we have some data, and these are some people who believed in us, which is really, really important when you’re trying to fund something that’s a little out of the mainstream.”
Your support makes it possible for the Reeve Foundation to help innovative new programs like those at Courage Center change the lives of spinal cord injured men and women.
