Fall 2009 - Video Newsletter
VIDEO SCRIPT AND LINKS: Hi everyone, I’m Rob Gerth, Directior of Online Communications here at the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. We have three stories to share with you today. The first is about Team Reeve -- our athletic based fundraising program. This year we had athletes running marathons in Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, Denver and Louisville. We had people doing triathlons, mountain bike races, ironmans and wheelchair races for us. 69 runners competed in this year’s ING New York City Marathon, our biggest Team ever. They raised over a quarter of a million dollars (and still counting). Go to ChristopherReeve.org/TeamReeve to find out more about taking whatever sport you are passionate about, and making it your mission. Let me bring Harold in for a minute he is one of our Information Specialist. He can find the answers to any questions you have about paralysis. Go to paralysis.org to find out more. But the reason I have you on the show is to ask you about the early Christmas present I gave you. We created a gift guide this year of what to buy for people in wheelchairs. It's at ChristopherReeve.org/gift. And speaking of pimping out your ride – The guys at Orange County Choppers built a motorcycle that is wheelchair accessible. It was unveiled at our gala – A Magical Evening, last month. Have a look. You can watch this bike get built on TLC’s American Choppers on January 7th. Our last story is really more of a thank you from one of our Quality of Life grantees – the Green Mountain Club in Vermont. They are just one of hundreds of non-profit organizations helping people living with paralysis that we have supported. (Find out more about our Quality of Life grants.) Thanks for watching. Enjoy the holidays. |
