Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations
Position Summary:
The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, a national, non-profit organization headquartered in Short Hills, New Jersey, is seeking a highly-motivated and dynamic leader to manage and grow our Corporate and Foundation Relations program. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this person is responsible for generating revenue of $1.5 million from foundations and corporations in 2011, and for creating a strategic plan to expand the program significantly over the next 2-5 years. The qualified professional will lead all corporate giving and foundation fundraising, including managing all grant writing and outreach, in order to achieve the organization's goals.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in grant writing with the ability to manage concurrent projects and respond effectively and positively while meeting all deadlines. The ideal candidate will also have a good sense of humor, top notch writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, often under time pressures, and be comfortable working both independently and in a team-based environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage current institutional giving portfolio with a minimum fundraising expectation of $1.5 million in 2011
- Develop a strategic plan to grow and move the program forward over the next 2-5 years.
- Write, prepare and submit all institutional grant proposals
- Work collectively with the staff to ensure accuracy and clarity of grant submissions
- Steward relationships with current corporate and foundation donors
- Develop and direct prospect research and planning strategies to identify and cultivate new corporate and foundation prospects, including cause marketing opportunities
- Coordinate visits with donors and prospects
- Work with VP of Development to ensure income goals are met
- Communicate and coordinate all strategies with President and CEO, VP of Development and Board of Directors to cultivate and solicit prospects
- Produce regular status reports on all program activity
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
- A minimum of five years experience in fundraising and grant writing with a non-profit organization
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write clearly, persuasively and concisely on a deadline
- Ability to take complex information from the research department and convey that information clearly and accurately to donors
- Strong editing skills
- Proven experience in identifying, cultivating and maintaining relationships with prospects
- High level of organization and attention to details
- Ability to multi-task
- Aptitude for budget planning, financial reports and data analysis
- Demonstrated success in meeting and growing revenue goals
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications
- Knowledge of Donor Direct database a plus
