Help More People Prepare for a
Life of Mobility!
On the Fourth of July, 2012, a diving accident changed Thomas Cloyd’s life forever.
Thomas was diagnosed with the most severe form of paralysis – a truly devastating injury. Immediately after the accident, Thomas had little hope of moving his arms or legs, and had no feeling in either. Then he learned about the Activity-Based Locomotor Exercise (ABLE) program at a local Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation NeuroRecovery Network® center.
The ABLE program, created through Reeve Foundation research, uses a variety of specialized exercises to improve overall health and mobility. With that training, Thomas has made incredible gains in his core balance and upper body strength, and is beginning to see some movement in his legs.
"It's so much better to have a schedule that makes you get up and use your brain," Thomas says. "It makes you feel like a person instead of a useless lump. The ABLE program lets you see your body in a way you haven't before -- moving. It prepares you for a life of mobility. Your gifts to the Reeve Foundation are directly leading to life change as people get stronger and more independent. It makes life better, and I have hope that I will walk again."
Your gift right now will support the innovative Reeve Foundation research that can lead to new treatments and cures -- and better health and mobility for people living with paralysis. Please partner with us to give hope to more people like Thomas!
