कलाओं में भाग लेकर अपंग लोग हमारे कार्यस्‍थलों एवं समुदायों को बहुत योगदान देते हैं, अपंगता की बाबत पुरानी घिसी-पिटी बातों को दफन करने में सहायता करते हैं और समस्‍त लोगों का वास्‍तव में प्रतिनिधित्‍व करने वाली वैश्विक संस्‍कृति का निर्माण करते हैं।

कलाएं अनेक तरीकों से जीवन की गुणवत्‍ता में वृद्धि करती हैं। वे बच्‍चे की शिक्षा की शुरुआत से वयस्‍क होने और कैरियर के समय तक व्‍यक्तिगत एवं शैक्षणिक सफलता दोनों को ही बेहतर बनाती हैं। प्राथमिक स्‍कूल के वे विद्यार्थी जो कि संगीत कार्यक्रमों में भाग लेते हैं, पठन-पाठन, गणित, भाषा और समग्र उपलब्धि परीक्षणों में बेहतर प्रदर्शन करते हैं। हाई स्‍कूल में कला की पढ़ाई करने वाले विद्यार्थी परीक्षण में बेहतर प्रदर्शन करते हैं। स्‍टूडियो आर्ट पाठ्यक्रमों में पढ़ाई करने वाले विद्यार्थी अपनी लिखावट और शब्‍दभंडार कौशलों में सुधार लाते हैं। ये निष्‍कर्ष अपंग लोगों समेत समस्‍त लोगों के जीवन को सकारात्‍मक ढंग से गढ़ने में कला के मूल्‍य को रेखांकित करते हैं। चूंकि कला अनंत एवं बिना शर्त वाला क्षेत्र है इसलिए अपंग लोग शारीरिक, सामाजिक या रवैयागत अवरोधों के बिना स्‍वयं को अभिव्‍यक्‍त करने के लिए स्‍वतंत्र हैं।
