Job Title: Marketing and Communications Assistant

Job Summary:
The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation seeks a driven and talented Marketing and Communications Assistant to work alongside the marketing team to perform administrative duties to increase the Reeve Foundation brand awareness and increase engagement across all mediums.

The Communications Assistant will work with a number of team members to manage media relations, marketing content and outreach, as well as work with vendors and freelancers. He or she will also develop press releases, marketing collateral, presentations and provide support on events and speaking opportunities throughout the year.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the communications team to maintain an editorial calendar and develop a content strategy for each department that promotes Reeve Foundation key priorities and objectives
  • Draft and edit press releases, media alerts, web content, blogs, newsletters, social media content and other publicity and promotional materials. Maintain consistent messaging and tone across platforms
  • Work across departments to coordinate logistics for events, conferences, and speaking opportunities. Lend editorial assistance as needed to produce compelling content for community/donor engagement and outreach
  • Identify key conferences, speaking and sponsorship opportunities for Reeve Foundation/Team LeGrand spokespersons
  • Collaborate with vendors and agencies on large projects, including marketing/conference collateral, publications and annual report
  • Assist with planning and execution of awareness campaigns, including Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Awareness Month and Caregiver Appreciation Month
  • Track all coverage for national and international placements and prepare weekly coverage recaps
  • Assist the Marketing and Communications Associate Director and COO with special projects
  • Work with external bloggers and community moderators to edit, post and share their work on website and social media channels
  • Maintain an up-to-date and accurate database of contacts for press and community influencers
  • Work across departments to develop and update a calendar with corporate events/important dates
  • All applicable general administrative duties

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent writing and grammar skills, a passion for content development and writing
  • Outstanding communications skills (oral, written, interpersonal) with experience working across departments
  • Results-oriented individual with a sense of urgency and ability to adapt to the ever-evolving media landscape
  • Produce highly-detailed work on a continuous basis and contribute to the team while completing work independently
  • Self-starter, highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to propose and initiate creative solutions
  • Knowledge of the current social media landscape with familiarity with updating, navigating and utilizing each of the major social channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Adobe programs, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign a plus—and/or the desire to learn new programs to take on additional projects.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field
  • Experience in marketing and public relations, nonprofit experience a plus
  • Robust / active online presence and familiarity with existing and emerging social media
