Statement Regarding Separation of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and Life Rolls On
The Reeve Foundation will continue to fulfill its mission of providing care, funding quality of life initiatives, and advancing a cure for spinal cord injury
Los Angeles, CA (August 30, 2013) - The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and Life Rolls On (LRO) announced today that the two organizations have mutually agreed to separate and move forward independently. The Reeve Foundation will continue to fulfill its mission of providing care, funding quality of life initiatives, and advancing a cure for spinal cord injury. Life Rolls On will continue on under the direction of Founder Jesse Billauer, in its mission to improve the quality of life for young people affected by paralysis through action sports. Billauer will assume the role of Executive Director as of September 1, 2013.
"Our relationship with Life Rolls On was exciting and mutually beneficial. We have great respect for the leadership, donors, and volunteers of LRO, but continuing our partnership was a challenge to a small foundation whose mission is driven by research and quality of life," said Peter T. Wilderotter, president and CEO of the Reeve Foundation. He continued, "We are pleased that Jesse Billauer will fulfill his dream of leading the helm of LRO by becoming its Executive Director."
"I'd like to thank the Reeve Foundation for its extraordinary contributions in helping Life Rolls On over the past few years," said Jesse Billauer." "I look forward to opportunities where we can improve the quality of life for those living with spinal cord injury together."
LRO is completing its tenth annual season of They Will Surf Again with the season's last event scheduled for September 7th in La Jolla, CA. Plans for 2014 are underway.
