When I received the Dana Reeve Hope Award at the 2016 A Magical Evening gala, I was both honored and humbled to be put in the same sentence as Dana Reeve. She not only believed in a brighter future for individuals living with paralysis, she created one.

On December, 31, 2015, I was doing what I loved -- playing hockey with my team, the Boston Pride, at the Women’s Winter Classic. In an instant, my life changed and I was being carried off the ice with a spinal cord injury.

While at the hospital, the Reeve Foundation mobilized a network of support and resources. They instantly became an extension of our family. From the Information Specialists to Team Reeve, I never felt alone or uncertain about how to move forward.

Now, I not only see the future, but I’m also excited for it. I have a new mission and purpose to push me forward -- to change the world for individuals living with paralysis.

However, to truly change the world, we need everyone to come together.

I don’t know what my family would have done without the Foundation’s support, so I am asking you to give whatever you can to ensure the Reeve Foundation is always around to offer help and hope to those in need.

Every dollar counts and every donation makes a difference for the millions living with paralysis.

Everyone asks me how I keep smiling, but it's really tough to not smile when the whole world is on your side. Thanks to the Reeve Foundation and your support, I know the best of my life has yet to come.

Join me and #JoinReeve to make the future as bright as possible.
