Super Max And The Mystery of Thornwood’s Revenge by Susan Vaught. Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, 2017. Recommended for ages 8 through 12.

Maxine, better known as Super Max, is a twelve year old self-proclaimed electronics specialist who happens to occupy a super-cool super-powered wheelchair. Super Max lives in Blue Creek, Tennessee with her grandfather, whom she calls Toppy. Like many people from Tennessee, Super Max and Toppy love Elvis and like many they jokingly make references to Elvis being alive. However, a more frightening rumor has been circulating around the town for years and it says that Hargrove Thornwood’s ghost would haunt Thornwood Manor forever.

Thornwood was once a brilliant banker and a businessman but he had come across some bad times while living in Blue Creek. At first Super Max did not believe it until she remembered that Thornwood promised to haunt the town before his demise. Could this be true? Does Super Max need to investigate? Is Thornwood’s ghost haunting the town and who made a fake Social Media page for Toppy? Find out the answers and much more in Super Max and the Mystery of Thornwood’s Revenge.
