New in the PRC Library …
Undefeated: From Tragedy To Triumph by Marc Buoniconti , Forward by Tom Brokaw. Post Hill Press, 2017.
“My goal is to get everyone out of these wheelchairs.” Marc Buoniconti
Following in his father’s footsteps, Marc Buoniconti wanted to continue the legacy of the Buoniconti name in the National Football League which should have been simple because his father is Hall of Fame Legend Nick Buoniconti. The youngest of three children, Marc excelled in all sports. He sustained a dislocation of the C3-4 vertebrae and a severe spinal cord injury that would leave him paralyzed from the shoulders down during a college football game.
After his spinal cord injury, Marc needed rehabilitation to learn how to breathe without the use of a ventilator and how to control his breath-controlled wheelchair.
Determined to have a full life, Marc started a non- profit called the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and the Buoniconti Fund. Though this was very new for Marc, he became the ambassador and now President of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and the Buoniconti Fund which helps to fund research for the treatment of spinal cord and brain injuries. Through these efforts, Buoniconti has changed the lives of thousands of people who previously had no hope.
