Join us at Houston Abilities Expo this weekend!

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation will be showcasing at the Houston Abilities Expo this weekend including our Sunday workshop program called Living Together with a Disability. The program will feature three one-hour workshops specializing in giving those living with a disability and their caregivers strategies and techniques to reduce stress and live a healthier, happier lifestyle.

The topics of the three sessions presented by the Reeve Foundation will be:

Acupressure for Stress Relief: The Seva Stress Release, Presented by Regina Rosenthal PT, MA, RYT-200

This program will teach participants how to use a simple and easy to perform acupressure technique. These techniques will aid in stress management reduce anxiety, pain, and tension. The Seva Stress Release program was developed by Soul Lightening® Acupressure (SLA), and was initially used at Ground Zero in New York City after the events of September 11, 2001.

“Put Insomnia and Other Sleep Issues to Bed” Presented by Jay Gupta RPh, MScIM, MTM, RxYT & Terry Gupta MSW, RxYT, RMT

This unique seminar brings the best wisdom of both the west and the east to help you enjoy a deeply restorative sleep. The presenters will help participants to recognize the causes and complications of sleep issues, learn more about the important cautions for prescription sleep medications, OTCs, herbal remedies, and be empowered to use tested strategies and practices to bring your body to a stage of deep rest.

Protected Tomorrows: Future Care Plans Presented by Mary Anne Ehlert, Expert in Special Needs Planning and Services

"Protected Tomorrows: Future Care Plans" is a presentation that will be uplifting, educational and provide important facts families need to know. Participants will walk away with a foundation for their family's personal future care plan. Topics of discussion include: preparing legally and financially, maximizing government benefits, healthcare (Medicare/Medicaid), employment, housing, and social outreach.
