Make Working Out a Priority

It’s not easy to make working out a priority. How many times does someone make a resolution and bail on it, one month later? But here’s why it makes sense to create the space and make the time to prioritize workouts even if you are busy.
Social Connectivity
When you exercise, your brain releases endorphins, which intensify your ability to connect with others. It explains why those we share fitness friendships with often feel like a tight community. Endorphins help strengthen ties to individuals we’re not related to, which helps us build extended families and important social networks that help stave off loneliness and social isolation.
Remember the Why
You started to work out for a reason, so continuing to make working out a priority is essential. It could have been a physical or emotional reason. It could have been a health factor. Let your workout be your “me time.” Focus on yourself for that block of time, whether it is 15, 30, or 60 minutes. Be in the moment and allow yourself to enjoy your exercise time.
It’s a process
Life doesn’t always match up with a consistent workout schedule. And your body doesn’t always cooperate during a workout. It’s ok. Take the long view. If you have to do 15 minutes instead of 45 because that’s what is in the cards that day, do 15 minutes. You kept the momentum going, and committed yourself to make fitness a consistent part of your schedule.
At the end of the day, if you have carved out time to be healthy, you are winning. It doesn’t have to be a marathon or intense. Find your sweet spot and stick with it.
