New Eligibility for Prior Grantees in Fall 2019 Quality of Life Grant Cycles

Quality of Life Grants, a Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation program funded through a cooperative agreement with the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Community Living (ACL), is announcing new eligibility standards for its second cycle of grants for 2019. These standards will be in effect for the upcoming Direct Effect Quality of Life and High Impact Priority Quality of Life Grants initiatives.

Direct Effect is a Tier 1 grants initiative, offering up to $25,000 to nonprofit organizations for projects that clearly impact individuals living with paralysis, their families and caregivers.

High Impact Priority is a multi-tier grants initiative, funding projects for the following high-priority areas:

  • Tier 2: Transportation, Respite/Caregiving, and Disaster Response (grants up to $30,000)
  • Tier 3: Nursing Home Transition (grants up to $40,000)
  • Tier 4: Employment (grants up to $50,000).

The new eligibility standards allow organizations that have previously been awarded a Quality of Life grant to apply with a shorter re-application waiting time. Grantees in any category may re-apply if their most recent grant closure has been in the past year or longer. The 2019 Second Cycle Direct Effect and High Impact Priority grant period will start on January 1, 2020. Therefore, prior grantees who have received notification of grant closure for their past award by January 2019 are eligible to apply.

All grant applications are available and are to be completed online through the Reeve Foundation online grants portal. The online application submission deadline is Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at 11:59 pm EST.

We will also be holding a free Application Technical Assistance Webinar on Monday, September 16 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm EST, which will cover the application process through the grant portal step by step and provide information about the programs. The deadline for emailed questions is Friday, September 20.

2019 Second Cycle Quality of Life Grants Calendar:

  • September 9: Direct Effect and High Impact Priority Quality of Life Grants Cycle open
  • September 16: Quality of Life Grants Application Technical Assistance Webinar from 3:00 – 4:00 EST.
  • October 22: Application Submission Deadline (Applicants notified via email mid- to late-December)
  • January 1, 2020: Projects start
  • December 31, 2020: Projects close
