Memorial Day is set aside to remember and honor service men and women who have died in service to our nation. As we celebrate Memorial Day this Monday, the Reeve Foundation offers new resources from its Military and Veteran Program (MVP). The Reeve Foundation’s Military & Veteran Program extends expertise in spinal cord injury and paralysis to include resources and community connections for service men and women, as well as veterans living with paralysis, whether through combat-related, service-related, or non-service-related events.

To provide service men and women as well as veterans living with paralysis with a comprehensive overview of the benefits they are eligible for and how to apply, the Reeve Foundation’s Military and Veteran Program (MVP) has released a four-part video series detailing various aspects of qualifying for military benefits. The topics for the videos include:

MVP Program Overview: The Military & Veteran Program(MVP) provides a host of support and programs to help servicemen and women connect with military services, programs, and benefits. As part of the Reeve Foundation, the program offers guidance from Peer Mentors, MVP Council Members, and Information Specialists to ensure you are living a productive, healthy, and meaningful life.

Military Benefits Overview: The military benefits available to servicemen and women are everchanging and sometimes the application process can be overwhelming. To ease the stress of figuring out what benefits are available, this second video in the series provides a user-friendly overview that summarizes well-known benefits, as well as lesser-known ones, such as clothing allowances and housing grants.

Guide to Benefit Eligibility: Every veteran presents a unique set of circumstances and needs when applying for certain services. This third video explains how eligibility is decided for military benefits with examples and basic determining factors. To assess your individual eligibility, this video will help you get acquainted with the Reeve Foundation’s complete and personalized evaluation of benefits eligibility for veterans.

Applying to VA Benefits and Eligibility: Applying for VA benefits can be confusing and time-consuming. Avoid the frustration, confusion, and loss of benefits by learning about the VA benefits eligibility tools. This final video in the series details the VA’s disability percentage and rating systems as well as eligibility for an automobile and housing grant.
