Reeve Foundation creates Respite Care Grants Program

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation recognizes the vital role that caregivers play in the lives of many people, especially the impact they have within their own families and the general community of those living with a disability. In light of this, the Reeve Foundation is presenting the Respite Care Grants Program through our Paralysis Resource Center. We support nonprofits that address the additional episodic respite care that is needed to prevent caregiver ‘burnout.’

The Respite Care Grant Program offers grants of up to $10,000 for 4-6 days of respite per family. This allows caregivers an opportunity to take care of themselves by giving them the time to attend to their own personal and medical needs. This is done through funding Family Care Homes or Host Family, Adult Day Healthcare Centers, Sitter-Companion Services, Emergency Respite, and other similar environments that serve families with paralysis.

Applications open March 6, 2017 and the deadline closes on April 13, 2017. The opportunity is available for nonprofit organizations in the United States that demonstrate outstanding effectiveness in addressing the needs of people living with a multitude of paralysis related disabilities, including but not limited to, paralysis through spinal cord injuries, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and ALS. This once a year grant is the ideal opportunity to impact the lives of caregivers in the paralysis community.
